Synopsis[]

A thunderstorm rolls in late evening, disturbing Sulfus from his rest. Despite the danger, he goes out for a fly, passing Raf’s window where the angel is writing in her diary. She sees him go and is enchanted by his fearlessness, though remembers the barriers that keep them separated such as the painful effects of the V.E.T.O..

Meanwhile, Arkhan and Temptel visit the Universal Library. Greeted by the staff, Arkhan has trouble verbalizing his request so Temptel cuts to the chase: they want books on what happens when angels and devils fall in love. Both the angelic and diabolic librarians are astounded by such an idea.

Edoardo is walking down the dark, empty street when someone with a scarf around their face jumps out and demands his money. Terrified, he gives them his wallet and the mugger runs off. Dolce and Kabale arrive in time to see the mugger drop his scarf, letting them get a look at this face. It is Carlo, the boy Edoardo swindled for all his money with a poker game on a previous episode, The Rules of the Game.

The next day, Dolce tells this to her friends who recognize how Edoardo’s own bad actions have brought on this retaliation. They suggest she asks Arkhan for help, but the teacher sends a message to their class that he will be busy all day. Temptel sends a similar message to the devil students, giving them a free day. Kabale intends to use this time to push Edoardo into action while Sulfus is suspicious of what Temptel might be up to.

The teachers have found nothing useful in all the books given to them. Temptel is starting to doubt her theory of Raf and Sulfus falling for each other, though Arkhan doesn’t believe it’s such an unnatural idea. Their arguing is interrupted by another librarian, one previously unseen, who offers them a new book but warns them to read it discreetly.

Kabale and Dolce visit Edoardo at his house, the devil mocking him for hiding in his bed. Kabale believes Edoardo should seek revenge against Carlo while Dolce thinks this is the price he pays for what he did to the boy and his family. Kabale mocks her for defending a criminal and while she would gladly reveal to Edoardo who robbed him, Dolce challenges her to protect him.

Kabale turns The Challenge Room into a skate park where she and Dolce will compete in their freestyle bicycle tricks.

Arkhan is a suspicious of the odd librarian but with Temptel, they look at what he brought them. The book details an ancient legend of an angel, Tyco, who battled against a devil, Sai. They fought relentlessly for their armies but no matter how many times they clashed, neither could defeat the other.

Dolce has gotten the hang of her bicycle and shows off some great skills. Kabale isn’t willing to back down and collides her bike with Dolce to knock the angel down, stealing the victory.

The teachers continue with their book which declares that after so many battles, Tyco and Sai, described as “chosen ones”, eventually fell in love with one another. But with their joining, they created a terrible sacrilege which destroyed their ancient civilization. The professors are horrified of what this discovery means for their own situation.

Having won the first move, Kabale goes to Edoardo’s house and declares she knows who robbed him, showing the scarf. As she has his trust, she reveals it was Carlo and Edoardo rides off to his house to confront him. Seeign Edoardo wants revenge, Dolce has to act fast.

Edoardo arrives to Carlo’s house and shouts for him to come out. Police Officer Dolce arrives, demanding to know what all this racket is and when Edoardo tries to defend himself, he admits about wanting revenge on his mugger and then about the poker game that start it, both offenses he could be arrested for. The boy begs her to forgive his crime and she declers if he wants forgiveness, he should ask it of the person he hurt first. Carlo finally comes out and apologies to Edoardo for his crime, but the boy takes responsibility for having started it, allowing the two to make up. The angels compliment Dolce for fixing the situation, using fear as a motivator to stop revenge. The girls think their proffesor will be quite proud of her.

Arkhan and Temptel have finished their research and left the library, annoying rhe librarians who now must reshelve everything. The teachers are now sure they must prevent Raf and Sulfus from falling in love in order to save everyone from a catastrophe.

The masked woman is watching them on her video screens, glad to see they’ve fallen into her trap. Malachia returns to her side with the book, revealing to have been the librarian and that the book belongs to his mistress. She knows that with this knowledge, the teachers will try to forcibly separate the studnets which will ultimately just bring them closer together. She is hoping their love will bring about the same destruction that Tyco and Sai created and with that destruction, she will have her freedom.

Quotes[]

Note: These quotes are sourced directly from the English dubbed version of the episode.

"Fear and courage, courage and fear. Two sides of the same coin. The fear of the dark and the courage to challenge the night. The fear of repeating the mistakes of the past and the courage to start the game again. The fear of uncovering terrible secrets and the courage to keep looking for the truth no matter how difficult the answer is. Then there is some fear that has nothing to do with courage. Fear born from regrets, when actions from our past return to haunt us, like the fear of shadows." (Raf)

"It's a waste of time, angels and devils can't fall in love." (Temptel) "Why? Because it's absurd? Unnatural?" (Arkhan)

"There's a price to be paid for messing up." (Dolce)

"Good and evil came together as one, and that sacrilege gave way to catastrophe." (Arkhan)

"If you're asking for forgiveness, why don't you try giving it first?" (Dolce)

"New love brings new destruction." (Reina)
