Synopsis[]

Arkhan and Temptel announce to their students that they will be leaving them alone at the Golden School for two days. The teachers must report the progress of the students to the High Spheres and Low Spheres, the governing bodies of the angels and devils. The students are all excited at the idea of no classes but are reminded they must still take care of their duties to the humans.

The human students leave the school for the day, but Malachia slips into the building with the spider as sent by his mistress.

Raf isn’t as enthusiastic as her friends for being left alone, but they encourage her to use this free time for fun and relaxation. Similarly, the devils are trying to convince Sulfus to help them torment the angels, though he only wants to relax. Kabale baits him by mention he doesn’t want to face Raf and he admits to being frustrated by the V.E.T.O. that prevents them from properly fighting tht angels, forbidden to touch. Kabale has a way around that.

Malachia, unnoticed by the eternals, releases the spider in the halls to track them down.

Arkhan has arrived to the Hall of the High Spheres to give his reports while Temptel arrives to the Low Spheres to do the same. They describe their students, their best traits, and what they think of the progress.

Back at the school, the angels sit down to enjoy lunch, only to be ambushed by the devils who start a food fight. While all of them are distracted, the Black Spider arrives but can’t get at its targets with all the pandemonium. Raf eventually gets fed up with this childish quarreling and suggests they take the battle to a proper arena: the Challenge Room.

Raf, Urie, and Dolce face off against Sulfus, Cabiria, and Kabale in a tag team battle: Angels Friends vs Devil’s Enemies. Dolce starts the battle by using Video Fly to summon a giant archangel robot that attacks the devils. To counter, Kabale uses Metamorph Fly to become a giant monster. Even in this form, she can’t defeat the robot so Sulfus takes over with his Fire Fly to set it ablaze. Urie steps in with Meteo Fly, summoning a rain storm to douse the flames and Raf mocks Sulfus for his pitiful attack. The devil boy is so angry he nearly attacks her, though is reminded that the V.E.T.O. prohibits touching.

Kabale hints that this rule only applies when in angelic/diabolic form and he takes her meaning, inviting Raf to a private confrontation outside of the challgne room. Unafraid of him, she accepts. Once alone, he activates his metamorphosis to become terrestrial and goads her into doing the same, then is ready to properly fight. But Raf challenges him to catch her first and takes off though the school. Unknown to either, the spider follows after them.

Raf leads Sulfus through the empty school and out into the courtyard, hiding behind a tree to confuse him. She then swoops right by him and he is captivated by her playful charms, continuing to follow her and showing this has now become a fun game to them both.

The High and Low Spheres both ask the teachers about Raf and Sulfus respectively, each sensing something has changed in them. The teachers admit to have sensed it too but can’t figure out what is making ther best students suddenly act so strangely.

They must eventually stop to rest and he admtis Raf is fast, btu she won’t let him sit long before taking off again. In all the running, Raf enters a new part of the school and Sulfus finally corners her but no longer means her any ill harm. They discover a strange door and Raf realizes it’s the Room of Portraits, which holds the free will of all the humans. Sulfus worries about them trespassing here but as he reaches for her hand, the spider finally suceeds in biting him and then Raf before disappearing. Both are confused by this sudden pain but are more worried about each other, sharing an intimate moment. They can hear their friends calling them and go to rejoin them, promising not to mention what they’ve found or the brief moment they’ve shared.

The masked woman, who had been watching them the entire time, is delighted by the success of her spider. She proclaims to Malachia that soon will come the day that the chains which bind her to Limbo will be broken.
