Duel and Temptation is the forty-forth episode of the first season of Angel's Friends.

Synopsis[]
Raf is eager to hear more of her human parents, though she still doesn't fully trust Reina. As they enter a sitting room of the Mystery House, she meets Malachia and recognizes the manservant as Reina's former Earthly One and loved one. The ex-angel directs the topic away from her own history and onto Raf's.
As Reina tells her, Raf's parents were two important humans, a king and a queen, whose decisions influenced an immense empire. Because of this social position, angels and devils fought to influence them and the fight became so fierce, they never noticed they were battling among the humans. In the midst of it all, Raf's parents were fatally injured and Raf was left alone. To atone for this, the High Spheres adopted Raf and made her an angel.
Raf still requires more proof if she's to believe this tale and Reina offers her a way to get it by seeing the faces of her parents. While they may be deceased, their portraits remain in the Room of Portraits at the Golden School. Raf protests that, as an intern, she's not permitted to enter the Portrait Room, but Reina insists that she has no other choice if she wants to see her parents' faces.
Raf returns to the Golden School in the late evening, greeted by the anxious Urie. Raf is still mad for having been left alone all day and when Urie defends that it’s the fault of the devils, Raf complains about this time-old unending duel. Nevertheless, she seems to accept the apology and the conflicted angel goes to bed. But, she can't forget Reina's words and the task she's been given in order to find her past.
Leaving the room, Raf journeys to the Portrait Room door that she and Sulfus had accidentally found before, contemplating the idea of entering. At the same time, Malachia is inside of Reina's home, contemplating the room that Reina forbade him to enter, though he feels compelled to go in despite his orders. Both parties shrug off these ideas and return to their beds for the night.
The next day, Miki has been assigned to watch over Giulia and Elena as well now that Raf has returned to Andrea. She isn't excited by the idea, thinking Arkhan is testing her since she's repeating the stage, but Urie assures her Raf would be glad to assist in understanding her new charges. They worry that Raf might still be angry with them, though she does assure Miki that the twins are good girls so she won't have a lot to worry about.
Matteo unexpectedly invites both twins out on a date at once, and though both are excited to go, they each want to do so without one another. The angels, watching this, discuss the now heated competition of the sisters when a date with Matteo is on the line. Gas arrives with the other devils and though plenty of insults are traded, Sulfus reminds them that the challenge is solely between the involved guardians, to Raf's annoyance.
Miki and Gas compete in a series of arcade games, from bowling to strength machines to boxing. As they become lost in the competition, they are interrupted by the arrival of Raf and Sulfus who inform them that the twins have contracted the flue and are both ineligible to go on their date, rendering the challenge void. Raf goes on to scold them for forgetting their responsibilities by being caught up in squabbles, then leaves in a huff.
Back at the Portrait Room door, Raf has resolved herself to getting inside and seeing her parents, propelled by the call of her Earthly blood. At the same time, Reina is in her Forbidden Room gazing at her long ago stolen portrait of Malachia. She promises the portrait that she will soon have others to line her walls and all of mankind will be under Reina's control.
